I am seating here thinking of things I haven't changed on my "TF" oil, belts, water pump etc have been done but what is the life of the charcoal filter [ and what does it do ]

The charcoal filter is part of the emission reduction gubbins. Older cars have a vapour vent on the fuel tank to atmosphere.
To control emissions, vapour from the fuel tank is vented through the carbon canister and back into the throttle body thereby saving Polar bears.

So you don't need to change it ever 100k miles then and how do you put your self on the community map

Nah just ignore it. I took the one off the Nissan and binned it.

Apparently the community map is sulking presently and doesn't want to talk to anybody. Simon is counselling it. :yesnod: :coat:

The charcoal canister stores petrol fumes and the purge valve then lets them into the inlet manifold under the right conditions to be burnt. It is effectively just a storage device and should never need changing.

Well that just leaves the alternator. I have my eye on one in ebay
