my day to day pc is dying; very slow graphics update, and regular black screen followed by 'system recovered from kernel error' messages.
so i'm thinking of a tablet, and wondered if any of you folks had android ones, and which model?

Tablets are for casual browsing not for the tricky stuff.

If its a PC with said symptoms could be a range of things. Make sure you untick the restart on crash option then you can take a notice of the error code.

Graphics cards are about £10 for a cheapo. I'd say get a cheap laptop instead tablets are sound for browsing but anything else like photos, running proper programs and so on a no-no..

Well saying that.. My tablet is a HP touchpad that boots into, HP WebOS, Ubuntu and Android. Why? Just because I can. Means I have a portable good bit of kit for all occasions.

Get a Nexus one it works spot on.

depending on size, the nexus 7 is regarded as the best android tablet available and for less than £200
if you want a 10" then the galaxy note or tab 3 are good options but then theyre £400+
