Got to work fine, just usual wind and rain that I'm accustomed to.

Is there any other kind of weather there?
Oh yes of course, silly me! I forgot you also get snow, sleet, hail and cold!

If the storm is a westerly we normally are the first to get the battering down here on the Lizard Peninsula so I battened down everything.

The high winds started around 21:00 last night but I only had 59 mph recorded on our weather station, Culdrose air base which is just up the road only recorded 60 mph.

Looks like it came in on the the north coast of Cornwall and just missed us; a couple of thousand homes without power in the Barnstable area.

We had a bit of wind & rain up here in Cheshire but nothing unusual.
Can see blue sky right now looking out of the window.

Think the media have maybe over hyped this storm.

To be fair to them they exaggerate the forecast so they don't get caught out like Michael Fish in 1987.

the storms were only really ever going to reach the midlands at best - no point you northerners commenting on media hype when you were never going to be part of it anyway.

Just like they were predicted to hit late night sunday / early monday morning yet people were commenting on Sunday lunchtime about it being ball crap as they had sunny skies.

Sussex is strewn with fallen trees, floods and heavy winds, even now so unless youre in the 'storm zone', although Im pleased its all normal / lovely for you, its not really relevant?

Sorry to hear that lad, Shall we send some emergency supplies from t' north?
I have a trained ferret that will gnaw through those fallen trees in no time and you could probably use one of our massive black puddings as a dinghy?

Edit: You might wanna rethink about the effects of stockpiling those 48 tins of beans as well...
