Toronto's Crack-Smoking Mayor - Full story here.

Is he just another 'politician'? Can he be trusted ever again? Should he get the bullet? Or should he be given another chance?

Seeing as he's up for re-election next year (which isn't that far away) I think it best if the voters can punish him if they want.

Here in OZ, back in the seventies we had the federal Labour government sacked by the Governor General (The representative of our head of state, H.M. Liz II) there was a political crisis going on, and it was found somewhere in the constitution that he had the power to do so. So he did in order to break the deadlocked situation. He sacked the elected government, called an election and installed the Liberal opposition as the caretaker government. The Labour party lost that election anyway and probably would've lost it even if they had gone full term.

Well without getting into a debate about the rights and wrongs of it all, the whole affair left a bad taste in the mouths of the Labour die-hards to the point of them still endlessly banging on about it 40 years later!

The point is with the election so close, the good citizens of Toronto don't need to hear the whinging supporters of this Mayor banging on about their perception of the injustice of it all for the next 40 years like we have!

It's up to the voters. However, I don't think using the word 'crystal' in his defence was a great idea.

Wow, when I saw the headline I assumed it was probably when he was at college or something which would allow him a bit of leeway but last year? Nope, he has a responsibility to resign.

In his defence he was pissed at the time.

FWIW: His popularity is up in the polls since yesterday. :slapme:

Gotta love those Hogtown voters!

Come on, who hasn't got completely smash bomded and taken a hit while Mayor? No one?

Reading about Rob's anticks is hilarious, as long as he's not running my city.

Seriously we wouldn't know bugger all about what our politicians get up to behind the scenes, this bloke's biggest offense was that he got caught!
What he got caught doing probably pales in comparison with what some of the others get up to, but that's OK because they haven't been caught out......................yet!
