SRS Light

Sorry, no white smoke on this one. I reconnected the passenger air bag and swapped over the SRS ECUs (not easy as the access to the torx bolts is very tight) and having reconnected the battery fired up to a constant SRS light. I've just let the 'new' ECU rest with the battery disconnected and disconnected the passenger air bag and I still have a constant SRS light when the battery is back on. So at the moment I'm 'resting' everything again before I put the original ECU back in and with the passenger air bag disconnected...hopefully I'll be back to where I was earlier this morning with a working system as long as the passenger bag is not in the system.

So there may of course be a fault somewhere in the system but the only way to progress will be to connect a T4 and see what faults show-up and what can be reset. It may be possible to re-program the 'new' ECU remotely from the car....I need to ponder all this.

I should add that with the original ECU in place and the passenger air bag disconnected the SRS passes its self check. At least it stayed dry while I did the job although I had to spend 20 minutes with the vacuum sucking-up all the leaves that had blown-in to the cockpit & under bonnet. So I now have an expensive air bag blank!

David,

Thanks - a good link and I've found others offering a similar service. I'll follow this up when I have some time.
