Frequent or infrequent use?
Looks like I'm going against the trend :nofight:, but this year will be the third winter my TF has been off the road. It gives me the "tinkering" time with a reasonably long deadline to get it finished. So I can't say if not being used affects reliability, as any fault is more like down to me not putting something back right :slapme: or the good old "if it ain't broke don't fix it rule"!
My mini has only seen summer use since I completed the rebuild in spring 2005, and it never misses a beat. She only does around 800 miles per year, but i do a full 12,000 mile service none the less.
So I think reliability comes down to good maintenance, and if using the car through the winter, regular washes to keep the salt off!

I lay mine up for winter, normally October till Feb.
Gets a little TLC, last few years its been engine out job and powder coat subframes etc.
This year I have removed rear buimper to made my own new bumper crash cans and sort out any rust.
Replaced sunvisors with Z3 items and replaced windscreen surround with black.
Reaprayed front bumper,
Resilvered headlights.
Next I want to replace windscreen washer nozzles and replace camshaft sensor.
In hindsight I could have run it until now as weather has been good, but why submit it to salty roads?
I start the engine once a week and charge the battery and it has always been fine.

Infrequent - she's a funday car, so I will only use her when it's not wet / icy / salty etc.. the daily driver can cope with all that. Normally I run her for twenty minutes in the garage over the weekend if it's not good enough to go out. BUT she got a night time run this Wednesday - not a long one but enough to make sure nothing fell off.

Well. Those that lay up for Winter.
Just.....
Shame on you. Sell your MG and buy a pristine Morris Minor and a trailer. To tow behind your your Ital. someone on here will no doubt say that Itals were Really Good Cars. And buy a pipe and slippers. And a tartan flask. You probably already wrap your egg sandwiches in tinfoil anyway.
The same ones every year that bleat about seized brakes, clutches etc. oh, and flat batteries etc etc etcetera.
Despite covering 400 miles a year. Big miles, oh yes.
Drive the friggin' thing!!!!!!!!

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..
