so the letter popped through the post this morning, i'm very lucky that my insurer will automatically renew my policy! :yesnod:

i don't have to do anything for this privilege, just £488 will debit from my account

one swift phone call with a reference i had a few weeks ago, premium instantly dropped to £183 :tada:

does anyone let their renewal just roll over these days? robbers.

one tip worth noting is that the insurance companies work on projected sales, if they have a buffer of a few weeks it helps them keep the coffers topped up.

if you get a quote 6 weeks before renewal (some only offer 4), it'll be cheaper than at renewal day. my premium today was around £250 on the comparison sites, i only got the £184 because they'd tried to tempt me a few weeks back and the quote was just in date :woo2:

I decline the auto-renewal option as it always seems to be more expensive. I didnt renew my insurance this year until the day after the old insurance ran out. I got them to run it through as a new quote and it was £5 cheaper than renewing. Premium is the right side of £140. .. Cant figure that one out!

Strangely enough ASDA insurance couldn't quote me this year!! :-?
Obviously at 46 with full NCB, not claimed or had an accident since 1988 and driving around a 14 year old 1.8 MGF I must be such a high risk!!! :hgf: Well there are plenty of other insurance companies out there that want my money :drive:

Insurance companies are scumbags that aren't honest enough to be bookies! (Bookie = Oz slang for turf accountant)

We have bookies in the UK, no idea what a turf accountant is though, are they the book keeper for a grass supply merchant?

:bust: Insurance does seem to be a lottery - particularly when claiming! Having just bought a TF I spoke to the company that had insured my 45 year old MGB. (Current premium £98 - they don't do cheaper as that's their minimum fee). Well you guessed it - won't insure the MG TF :bat: So, ring around and get alternatives. No problem got several very good priced options. :woohoo: Speak to original insurers about no claims discount ---- sorry you don't have that! I quote..."you have a premium policy that has an introductory discount from inception and doesn't qualify for a NCD. :hgf: Alternative insurers now put quotes up to more than the car is worth. :woowoo: Brianwave :woo2: I ask original insurer for letter stating that I have held insurance with them since I rebuild the old MGB without any claims. After some negotiation - and sadly, threats of taking action, get letter. Renegotiate with new insurers and  get MG TF insured for not a lot more then the old MGB. Now looking forward to the rain stopping and being able to drive my new toy as the wife calls it. No doubt in 12 months time there will have to be a re-negotiation. And they wonder why some folks don't bother to insure or, whack the claims up when trying to get a just payment. :-?

I read and hear about these wonderful low premiums but we can never seem to find them and certainly never get them. The MGF for 5,000 miles per annum has cost £175 and that was the cheapest we could find.

I am no spring chicken as I will never see 55 again let along 50 :nonod: my NCD is however used up on the Rover 75. Am named main driver on the 623 and we live in a low risk area. Must be the surname or something.
