positive surprises
removed the engine cover today for the first time to have a closer look.
First surprise - I have speakers in the t-bar. Didn't know that.
Then the engine - looks very dry, only a very light spray of oil on the gearbox housing. No leaks to spot.
Was worried to find mayo on the oil cap after the overheating issue I had. But everything ok here.
Found notes about change of timing belt + water pump + hg. previous owner mentioned it was done by the original owner but had no proof.
Looks he was right, was done 10k mls ago.
Rear subframe looks very solid, also all suspension parts.
Could also check the front while draining the cooling system, everything looks solid here also.
No rust on the coolant pipes. At least outside.
Radiator is spotless.
Hope the friendly NCT engineer (=irish MOT) will have the same impression in April...

Sounds good - apart from the mk1 F and a few base 1.6 models they all have tbar speakers.
