Retirement is good :woohoo: it suits me anyway :woohoo:

I'm hoping it will suit me too! Can't think of any reason why it won't! :D

Enjoyed a good crack about T300s, Ap brakes and MGs in general. :yesnod:

As far as I'm concerned retirement is sweet sweet! :woohoo:

It was good to meet you, David - with my chauffer! I'm sure I will feel the same way about retirement. :)

That's great, helsbyman. I too am currently a lot fitter than I have been for a long time and feel much better for it. Walking was becoming a real effort when I was at my heaviest and I never want to get like that again. Just getting up from my desk and walking (or more like waddling!) across the room to the reception hatch was a major exercise for me then. I still have a long way to go but being able to walk a lot easier is helping. :)

Thanks for the welcome, though I have been on these forums for almost a year now, just not had a lot of time to post much. Hopefully that will now change. :D

Since this thread commenced I've started walking next doors new dog (it's only 16 weeks old, but it's about the size of a Labrador, as it's a bull mastiff bitch - the dog, not anyone else) :P

And.. I feel knackered.

No worries though. A few more weeks and it should be big enough for me to ride. :P

Of course I said I would and am now about to start the 12 weeks of training to prepare myself for this venture! It is many years since I did any kind of serious walking and I am determined to succeed - and lose more weight at the same time! I have set up a JustGiving page for any donations and would be very grateful for any help in reaching my target of £100 - http://www.justgiving.com/Helen-Lister1953 .

Well, today I went for a walk around my estate as a start in my training for the Pink Ribbonwalk. I completed 1.45 miles in just under 33 minutes, but was not pushing myself too hard. I use a heart rate monitor with a GPS watch and try to keep my heart rate at a level that burns fat to help me lose weight. Details of my route can be seen here - http://connect.garmin.com/activity/463364595 :)
