Just in case you have somehow managed to miss the news.

The online auction site has advised all of its users to change their passwords after a security breach.

The extent of the breach is unclear at this stage but the only reasonable response is to change your password, and if you've used it on any other sites change those too. It is likely that if you do not change your password, eBay will eventually force you.

The site insists that no financial data or credit cards were stolen, but it is possible that you could be at risk unless you change your details.

According to a statement on Business Wire, the breach was discovered two weeks ago but may have taken place as early as February - meaning hackers may have already had months to exploit your details.

The database of stolen details included passwords, names, birthdays, addresses and phone numbers.

I know someone who had $130AU taken from their paypal account in 2 transactions. It was about a week ago, paypal quickly refunded the money ??? I have no idea if it is linked to the present security breach ??
I have changed my ebay and paypal passwords which are now different to each other. :woo2:
How many passwords does one have to have :bang:

A friend of mine said he hadn't used eBay for quite some time and couldn't remember his password to access his account. I told him email the hackers; [email protected] they can tell you.

I just changed mine and life is more difficult now. I have around 8 different pass words and my military passwords need to be changed every month!
Computers don't necessarily make things easier.

Remember ' password' is a misnomer.
Use a string of letters that mean something to you, for instance I suggested to a technophobic friend recently
"Ihatecomputers".... now if you mix up the capital letters and add a number or two you are getting there.
don't forget Ihatecomputers35 is different from iHatecomputerS35.
Go mad, quote poetry....tell your dog off ;) all it has to be is memorable.

The real problem lies with people whose password is ...password, or 11111,or 2222,or 123456 etc. :yesnod:

When I was working for myself I lost count of the number of peoples house alarms that were the default 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 or 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 to disarm :slapme:
