Toro Tossers: sneaky test bed for RB.

Button: will set his mediocrity stall out early in qualifying by complaining about oversteer/under steer/vibrations/heat in the tyres etc etc etc. If Brawn hadn't gifted him a winning car he'd be a 2 win nobody rather than a champ. Pretty much like Rosberg actually.

Alonso remains the best driver on the grid. Getting the best from an under performing car. As Kimi ' I speak your weight and have no personality' Raikonnen just isn't. In it for the vodka, chicks and money.

My prediction: Hamilton pole and win. Rosberg qual P2 then retirement/finish down the field. Race: Ricciardo 2, Alonso 3. Williams strong into the points both cars.

Maldonado is an enigma. He appears to be a complete waste of space/menace to other drivers- and yet he has won a race. Maybe it was a look alike driving that weekend?

Vettel lost a lot of good will with the infamous Multi 21 incident and for me the turning point was the 'crash into your teammate and call him crazy' incident also.

All great champions are single minded but even Schumacher felt guilty about Massa being forced to move over for him.

For Vettel, after sort of vaguely apologising, to spend a couple of nights thinking about multi 21 and then stating that he would do the same again in the same circumstances was not a good move. Think that if you must but don't say it...

So I do experience schadenfreude watching Vettel struggle while 'smiley Aussie' seems to be thriving!

I think Maldonado's win was a one off, not to be repeated. The circumstances conspired to gift it to him on the day. We can all have good days. Ferrari cocked up their strategy iirc.

Whilst I admire the emergent teams a bit for having a go and extending the grid they are so far off the main pace that it's borderline dangerous. They never seem to improve significantly season to season.

Stewarding is getting a bit random as well: 2 incidents yesterday let off without significant penalty: Magnussen slow at the pit lane and almost causing a collision and Ricciardo undertaking on the pit lane, potentially endangering personnel. I thought human safety related stuff was going to be dealt with 'severely'

I have to agree on the 'new teams'. They really are in a lower league and are really just mobile chicanes and a hazard on the track. I feel sorry for the drivers as they must have to spend longer looking in their mirrors than looking ahead.
Marussia's points will not be added to soon, unless, as you say, there is major carnage.

The real problem for them is that they are trying to catch up to teams that have more money, more expertise, and more experience. So rather than catching up they will just fall farther and farther behind.
Small emerging teams won't ever be able to compete with the likes of Mercedes, Ferrari, or McClaren unless, like Red Bull, they can throw a shed load of money at it and buy in the likes of Adrian Newey's genius.

Maldonado could have had two great results but he threw the car into the barriers on the other occasion.

My big question is - will that outrageous self-publicist Christian Horner ever start a sentence without using the nonsense:-

Actually, I think it's a nice change to see someone happy to be there, rather than some sourpuss with a look on their face like someone that's found a penny and lost a pound!

Spectacular way for Massa to avoid getting a good result at the end. :pop: I actually thought he was going to win it after the Mercedes faltered.
How weird that they both had the same fault at exactly the same time.

Finally, some good old fashioned, wheel to wheel racing and excitement. The first GP I have genuinely enjoyed in years. Luckily for me, I don't follow a "team" or an individual. I just want to see exciting racing. :hgf:
