I think as we all know, our cars are not worth very much any more, so people buy them cheap and don't look after them. Then one of us 'enthusiasts' get them.... what do we often also get? A whole heap of problems not caused by the car per-se, but by the previous owner not up-keeping maintenance. However parts are cheap, problems are (mostly) well known, and lucky for us the body-shell is usually fairly rust free in the important areas. Everything else can be got off eBay fairly cheaply and bolted on by anyone with a 10mm or 13mm spanner!
Plus nothing beats that 'MG Smile' we all get when they are going well! :woohoo:

Car never missed a beat, used a drop of water or oil, and the temperature gauge never shifted above "just below Middle", despite hot (24degC) weather for the whole trip! Probably 2000 (hood down) miles in 7 days.
Who said our cars were unreliable!
