After much deliberating I think I will sadly have to break little red as I cannot sorce a replacement engin at a reasonable cost, however every cloud has a silver lining and I will tommorow pick up my new eBay replacement!

I won a white F, P reg the same as little red but complete with hard top, wind breaker and a recently replaced engin. I am not expecting great things for the price I paid but at least I will be back in the mgf fold :bust: I have missed driving this summer.

Any takers for a tidy non running P reg still seems a shame to break but unfortunately the sum of the parts is probably higher than the whole car.

Sadly our little cars aren't worth much. I made the best part of £800 breaking my mk1 ZS after I couldn't sell it for £200!

Thinking slightly sideways, see what condition the new one really is, it might be the engine doner for the red one and breaker, just thinking out loud.

Is it really cheaper to buy a whole car than just an engine??

Sounds like a plan though . . .

Quoted £700 + for replacement engin, paid £650 for whole car MOTed till February, complete with hood cover, original wind deflector, and hard top! I'm picking it up later and will decided which to continue with, however from the pictures the EBay special looks tidy

New motor picked up, I almost feel guilty! The hard top looks like it has never been fitted to the car, it looks like new, windstop in good condition and the car is very nice. Power steering and abs brakes both of witch were not on the old car, MOTed till February and he left the tax on till Jan too!

Only bad point is small area of rust (surface) on the drivers side cill

Well chuffed
