Well, after 8 years of nearly faultless service, my trusty old Jag will be going. We bought the old girl for my 50th birthday after recovering from bowel cancer. I'd promised myself a Jag when I retired, then after cancer realised that life was too short.
The old girl has been mainly trusty, only needing tyres and normal service items. And a battery last year. Recently, though, I've had to replace 3 of the 4 Lambda sensors, a common fault on the X Type. Lucky to get 50k apparently.
Reason for the break up? After a while of avoiding and ducking the issue, I now have to have a company car: I resisted so far as I use pool or hire cars for work. But now The Big Boss has decreed. I'm awaiting a new Volvo V40 with all the bells and whistles.
T'will be a sad day. Will probably be We Buy Any Car: can't be doing with adverts and tyre kickers. 20 grand 8 years ago gets you about a grand today. Oh well......
*Sob. Thanks for reading.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

I'm sure you'll be sorry to see it go John. I've still got my 2003 Xtype though don't drive it much these days. It's nearing 130000 and still goes like a good 'un. I'm just keeping it now until she finally gives out as she doesn't owe me anything and it's handy to have, although the road tax is a bit pricey!
Good luck with the Volvo :yesnod:

Sad but at that value does it have to go, do you not have room to store it on SORN or save it for runs where the MG isn't big enough, that way you'd only use the Volvo for business mileage.
Home to black Alfa Romeo 159 3.2 V6 Q4 ,green MGF VVC and red MG Maestro T16.
MG - the friendly marque.

Thanks guys. The Volvo was actually the best choice from the range offered by Lex, our provider. I actually hadn't thought of a new generation Volvo until I saw one at work. A week trial and I was sold: the last Volvo I drove was years ago: a Lovejoy barge!
