Just got back from hols. & decided to give the TF a run.
Turned on ignition & all dash lights showed but when engaging starter, zilch :-?
Tested battery & it showed 11.6v, low but should have at least tried to turn over.
Put it on charge until it reached 12v, but still dead..
Has always started first time, so I need to know what to check, to discover the problem.
Any ideas?

A fully charged battery should be closer to 13 volts and 14 plus with engine running and alternator charging. its the alarm that drains the battery from lack of use, good 065 or 075 battery is essential, check all connections on starter, battery connections and the rear earth strap

A favourite is the spade connection on the starter.

Today I have done the following -
Checked all fuses - ok
Tried jump starting - no good, so charged battery - no difference.
Put a meter on solenoid & only got a reading of 7v, which is not enough to fire it.
Where is the earth strap as that needs checking?
There is no sound from anything when trying to start.
So it seems that there is a large voltage drop from the battery to the solenoid, which is causing the fault.
What could be causing that?

Did you clean up the connection to the solenoid?

Not yet David as I accessed the solenoid from the top, without jacking car up.
I am going to try a known good battery to eliminate that & if that fails will be on the list.

I think it's sensible to start at the battery and work towards the engine. Have you removed, cleaned & refixed the battery earth strap where it attaches at the wing?

Well, I have found the culprit :yesnod:
It was as David suggested, a caroded spade connector on the solenoid.
Thanks every one for your help.
