out and about again today.....started off looking overcast before the sun came out .......short blast in the peaks through waterhouses,irlam....manifold valley......mounted my phone on the dash to record a video shot......took a small video going through the dissused railway tunnel in the manifold valley.......which i believe was part of the leek and manifold valley light railway (LMVLR) which ran from 1904 to1934.Gave the tf a short blast sounded better in real life...but still ive only got standard exhaust system.
heres some images of trains that would of passed through the tunnel and the track that has long gone.

Mine, of course, then there was the 2005 Grey with the top down and a cheery wave from the driver, then a min later I saw a XPG 2002 model with a grey hood parked up at the McDonalds restaurant.
Making me think that LEF is a bit more common than silver and blue put together!
Power to the XP Greys!

Since we had some bostin' good weather yesterday, me and Mrs Sundance just had to go for some scenery and Telfords A5 up to Anglesey has been long in my mind...so here we go!
We didn't set out til' after 12.30 (well gotta wash the car if you are off on a run) so it was going to be a long day, but after a longish detour between Audlem and Whitchurch we soon hit our first stop, the mad town of Langollen where driving is soo bad because of the traffic coming into and out of Wales!
We were back on the road again and after Corwen, we hit the start of the proper driving roads, good surfaces, great scenery and some great winding bends!
Here is a brief break just before Bets y Coed...
It was here where we saw our only other TF that day, a very nice sporty looking blue model with a nice blue tonneau cover and some nice white Cobra stripes!
Then it was up into the Snowdonia range, a breath taking drive and even better with the roof down.....
It was then onto Anglesey, over Stephensons Britannia bridge....
Then a quick turn left to take us into Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, just because it was local and then we could have said we have been there!
Then it was a quick turnaround and back over to the mainland via Telfords Menai Bridge
Then over to Caernarfon and a stop for some tea!
Then we headed over to Portmadoc and hit some strange fog!
Which didn't clear until we got about 20 clicks inland! Still had the roof down, but we have to admit, the heaters went on for a bit!
We then headed for Bala, going around the mighty Llyn Celyn reservoir .....
And then back through Llangollen turning right just after and dropping into the small village of Trevor just to take in the awesome sight of Telfords Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, spanning the river Dee.
Then it was homeward bound, with a quick stop at the exceptional Shroppy Fly Inn, built on the bank of Telfords Shropshire Union canal at Audlem.
Then back home to Alton in Staffordshire.. total journey time 9 hours and some 300 miles clocked.
Cars we saw en route worth noting were a nice red F parked up at Elsemere port on the side of the Mere, the blue TF mentioned earlier and a nice orange TR7.
We also saw a ford Anglia and at least 17 MX5's....common as dogdirt in a dark alley!
Oh and I got some serious suntan!

Up in the Moorlands where you are, think we talked about it last Sunday, on a clear day you can see as far as Manchester to the west, Coventry to the east and south you can see the Welsh mountains, from the Mermaid Inn, you can see Jodrell Bank radio telescope on a good day, in fact it stands out really well, its HUGE!
The actual highest road in the Staffordshire moorlands, is what the locals call the Casey and its a small road that runs the length of Ipstones edge from Ipstones to Cauldon Lowe. From there you can see a hell of a lot of fireworks and bonfires on Nov 5th and also when the conditions are right, the Aurora Borealis. Used to get a load of CB radio fans and radio hams up there back in the 80's but now you have a better chance of seeing guys with radio controlled gliders and planes and sometimes the military do their training up there as its so bleak! At least if you break down, you could probably roll to the nearest garage!

on from carsington to matlock and through to bakewell and then stopping again to take some overcast pics of the wye valley.
on through buxton and past the winking man to the mermaid inn......thick fog on this road and the view was poor.
added 90 miles to the clock today and the tf performed perfect in every way, could not fault it....although earlier i gave my stepfather a lift to the pub ....his legs must be short and his body tall to make up for it.....his head was in the roof...over the windscreen if you pull the hood down....He clamberd out in a some would discribe has drunken......but he hadnt had a drink yet........somehow i dont think he will be joning the forum....
