The phone on the screen blocks out anything behind it whereas the reflection allows you to see through.

I achieved the same effect in my MG Metro to which I had fitted the talking digi dash from an early MG maestro by placing a mirror at the correct angle on the top of the steering column, must have been 20 years ago.

I mount my phone on the screen just above the dash, it doesn't interfere with me seeing where I'm going, anyhow the heads up display would be next to useless here in Oz as the sunlight is so bright you'd rarely see it.talkingcars wrote: The phone on the screen blocks out anything behind it whereas the reflection allows you to see through.

Sadly it went more than 15 years ago, the dash rests in the shed awaiting a new home.
