Take a look at this vid.....star wraps....the video is a mgf getting wrapped instead of a respray in paint.....the video suggests that painting is dead..

What it actually shows is a quite elusive old English white F being wrapped in plastic to look like a Diamond white.
The expected lifespan of these wraps is currently around seven years, however during this period if it gets damaged or scratched it will deteriorate quicker.
You cannot polish a wrap, or easily repair so in my view paint is far from dead, but it does have a short term cover up!

If over time , moisture gets trapped behind it, the moisture will have no where to go but rust through the steel.

The issue I have noticed with wrapped cars, is open a door , boot or bonnet and there is a crinkly edge of vinyl wrapped into the shut. Looks really tatty!

I wouldnt have this wrap myself...but interesting to see what lengths some will go to just to freshen a older car......or is it the price of a respray these days far outways the original cost of the car.....different kettle of fish but when my old land rover needed a repaint and i got a quote....i said....**** ***..........i then painted it myself using enamel paint and a roller.......looked great.......but i would never of touched it with a jet washer...anyway i love the trophy blue of my tf and polishing it brings out the vibrance and gets the car noticed...wrap must get grimy and blisterd has the sun takes its toll............ and a scratch on paint can be touched up...scratching plastic wrap..well thats a different matter....i can only imagine this wrapping is for budgeting ...thats if its cheap..but i doubt it is. :pinch:

Wrap will show any imperfections in the paint underneath.
The real use for wrap is commercial vehicles when new, it preserves the paint to maintain resale value and complex designs are much easier to achieve, Eddy Stobart trucks are a classic example.
