The new mot rules.
Well, despite a sticking brake light switch leaving my brake lights on unless you rebound the pedal. I was allowed to drive home to effect repair. For which I am somewhat grateful, as a new switch off eBay is under a fiver, but a PITA to fit. I can imagine many Garages using new rules as excuse to hold car and charge for an hour's labour, parts - plus significant markup, and then full price for retest.
I think it's probably worth building a friendly relationship with a local garage well before MOT time with this in mind.

Hi .
What a bugger about the switch ! The beauty of taking the TF to my preferred tester is that they are only a test station and can't do repairs . He let me look through the new regs regarding the test and some of them are quite ambiguous in their interpretation . Good that Hesketh's emissions were ok, just take care you don't end up with a bad back fitting the switch. :pinch:
