We had the same hub caps on my parents 1968 Ford Corsair.

I recall the boys in blue used to have Zephyrs around here in the sixties but due appalling handling they got rid of them as they wrote so many off .

In my day the rozzers had ford's in my town..mainly escort mk2 and later the maestro ...got pulled over by a plain ford cortina once..mk4? And pulled over by a sds 3500 rover on the motorway....reason was my escort had multi colour panels...that scrapyard I went to never had cars in the right colour and the escort looked untidy...yes you could say it was a early example of the rat look....the plain cortina that stopped me.with hidden blues under the grille..out came 2 cops who examined the car and commented after that it was in good condition.and not a banger that had lost its way off the track like first thought ..I had to explain it was a minter when I bought it....a lovely venetian red...then a mate opened the passenger door while I was reversing at night ...wiping it off..replaced with a gold one....reversed into a gate....replaced the boot for a blue one...new rear arches welded on..filled and sprayed red oxide...2 new front wings in matt black....images of cop cars I remember.in my youth.

We saw a mk4 cortina just driving through town in Palermo last week, and it looked to be in good condition.
