Took the MGF to a show and lost it for an afternoon! was created by SimonR

Hi all,

Thought you might like this.  It was my village feast celebration this past weekend and as part of it there's a classic car run, followed by all the cars parking up on the showground.  I was driving my Jaguar XJ-S and was let down last minute by the person who was planning to drive the MGF.  I posted the evening before on a parents WhatsApp group to see if anyone wanted to take it on the road run and sure enough one of the fathers of a child in my daughter's class volunteered.

The Jag and MG got a lot of admiring glances on the way round and also parked at the Feast:

But when it came to take the cars home late afternoon, the guy who drove the MG asked if he could borrow it a bit longer and return it that evening...  "No problem - knock yourself out" I said...

Turns out that he and his family spent a very happy afternoon with the car on the B Roads around Cambridgeshire and I eventually got it back at about 8 pm with quite a few miles added to the odometer and half a tank of fuel missing! They really enjoyed replacing their 7-seater with something a little more sporty for a day.

I bought the car to have fun with and I'd say that mission was achieved.

Very generous of you. But what feast was the village celebrating? That looks like a nice MG to the left of the Jeep, its a pity that yours wasn't parked next to it.
