What is the easiest piece of trim to take off that can be used as a colour sample to make up an aerosol can of paint? My interior is grenadine (red) rather than the normal dark grey and I need to paint my Jakabi fibreglass binnacle to match.

The binnacle in the car only has a couple of small cracks (side closest to steering wheel) so I don’t want to remove it until I have painted the Jakabi binnacle in case I stuff up the painting job.  (Also I work slowly!)

The glovebox looks like the easiest item to use for paint matching.

Sorted out my paint issue. Took the glove box along to local paint shop, Complete Auto Paints ,and they mixed up a couple of spray cans of arcylic paint with a special additive for trim paint. $80 for two cans (two can minimum - I have spare can for anyone local). It worked a treat, cleaned the Jacobi binnacle with isopropyl alcohol then scuffed with a Scotch Brite pad soaked in isopropyl. See photo of the old and new binnacle. Interestingly I found the original binnacle was painted also (I had magined it was Grenadine ABS until I removed).
New Jacobi binnacle fitted easily. The biggest job was cleaning up the silastic used previously to secure the front clips.
Pozi Drive screw drivers are your friends for this job.
