The centre caps of the MG's wheels are pretty faded so I decided to change the badges to spruce them up.

It's not rocket science, but it really does brighten up the wheels.

The badges are 44mm octagons and the originals are metal; glued into a recess in the centre cap itself.

To remove the old badge you need to insert a slim screwdriver or knife into the gap between the edge of the badge and the recess.

By carefully sliding the tool under the badge you can ease it away from the cap.

Once the badge has been removed, you will need to remove the remains of the adhesive from the recess. I used an abrasive paper and cleaned up with white spirit. Fortunately, the caps themselves were in good condition and once cleaned were ready for the new badges.

As`you can see from above, for some reason there is a raised letter 'M' in the recess. I rubbed that flat as well as removing the glue and roughening the area to take the new adhesive.

I purchased a set of black white and chrome badges from this ebay trader. He says he has other colours available, but I thought these would look good with the Anthracite paintwork.

The badges are a pretty good fit for the caps.

They do come with a self-adhesive backing but for added security I used a contact adhesive to coat the recess.
Once the adhesive was dry I pressed the new badge carefully into position.

Here you can see three of the finished caps with the old badges below in comparison.

They look great - might think about that with Meg's wheels. I've got some spare centres to try out first.

Looks good mate! I like the fact the lettering is slightly thicker than the original, makes it look more modern & chunky!

i did some thing similar but i was lucky that the badges werent too bad....but i sprayed my wheels black so wanted centres to suit...simple masking job...theres a nice fine indent around the octagon which makes it simple to trim with a scalpel...spray and lacquer and jobs a good un

[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]Is so skint he's off to become a sperm donor.....when i think of the money i've let slip through my fingers!!!

TBH, they look much better in reality.:yesnod: The photos don't show them at their best.

I just have to get some silver sparkle to touch up the wheels.
