Not exactly sure what you mean?
The washers on the bottom bush are dished - fitted outwards.
Or do you mean that the diameter of the damper is greater and fouls the washers?

One is thicker than the other but whichever way I put them on (left/right or dished in/out) the washers won't clear the damper. I could grind a flat on the edge so as to clear the bottom of the damper but I'm wondering whether the wider washer goes front or behind the damper...............That doesn't make sense to me....and I wrote it:CJJ:
The order on the bolt is - bolt through suspension arm. Then brake pipe bracket. Then spacer. Then small washer. then damper bottom fitting. Then bigger dished washer then nut.
Hope t5hat helps.
If the damper is fatter than standard, maybe you can increase the dish on the big washer with ball pein hammer?:dunno:

that's a great help David, thanks, 1 wittle qwestion.......
Do the washers cup out, away from the damper (like ears) or cup in(effectively encapsulating the damper bush)? Mine just about fit if out but no chance at all if cupped in!
wilddog;12264 wrote: recently fitted front & rears took off the top nut, spacer and rubber and fitted exactly how they came, should fit on with no issues....dial and click 3 times + and that should be plenty for a smooth ride, more u click the stiffer it will beome. The washers are all the same size as I recall? just check there are no old washers stuck to the underside of the suspension sill......one nut at the top on the old Rover suspension legs was cut off due to over tightening as it was jammed past the threaded end....
Thanks Wilddog. Is yours a Mk1 or Mk2? I think the Mk2 has these cupped washers (though I may well be wrong)
Thanks again chaps.....most appreciated:yesnod::thanks:

Posted 14 years 7 months ago #12337I have mine set on about 16 clicks. If you run too hard then you run the risk of cracking the suspension turrets and it's an engine out job to weld a plate in to strengthen them up :censored:

Cheers Dan, I shall dish mine out then, still have to grind the tops off though as there's not quite enough room!
I've been worned about the weakness in the turret and was planning on running about 8>10 anyway....don't want too hard a set-up.
Thanks again mate:thumbsup:

Posted 14 years 7 months ago #12339As you can see from this pic, there should be plenty of thread left even with dished washers....
