I drove at night for the first time yesterday and noticed the the HRW switch was not illuminated when the head lamps were on, although all other console switches are. Is this because the HRW connector is not plugged into anything, as the hardtop is not on, or is there a problem with the switch illumination?
Also, the clock and oil temperature gauges are not illuninated either - is this correct?
BTW the car is a 1997 MGF.
Thanks.

have a look here... http://www.mgfcar.de/schedules/sb31.jpg
It appears all the earths for the switch and guage illumination contained in the console area go to one point... possibly a multi plug, perhaps you have dislodged it!
Older but certainly not wiser!

The HRW switch 'on' light only comes on if the engine is running!
I managed to get access to the oil gauge and clock by taking out the air vent above (I am having real problems getting the centre console out).....
The clock bulb was poorly seated - a quick fiddle and voila!
The bulb has blown on the oil temp gauge, so I'll get a replacement tomorrow

Good news! You'll need to take the stereo to get the console out easily.laz1957;14900 wrote: OK console lights problems solved:
