Wind Deflector Templates

Just purchased a wind deflector
I have all the fittings but no instructions.
I found an online copy at http://www.lame-delegation.de/mgfcar.de/windstop/
However I can't get the templates to print at the correct size on my A4 printer.
Does anyone know how I can get a correct size printing or, failing that, what the measurements I can use to make sure I drill the holes in the correct place.
Thanks.

Thinking back to when I had the MGR deflector, what I did was remove the Tbar, remove the two bolts in question, and replace with the new longer bolts. I left the new bolts protruding and refitted the Tbar, pressing down on the bolt positions.
When i took the Tbar off again I had two clear marks in the foam of the underside of the t bar. I drilled through with a small drill at these marks and checked everyything lined up before drilling the correct sized hole from the top.

Hi David,
I took your advice and that worked fine - thanks
BTW the downloaded instructions are amended to reflect that the bolts that have to be removed are 10mm and not 8mm as printed. I have a 1997 MGF and the bolts were 8mm
I had just finished fitting the brackets when my friend arrived with correct size templates
What he did was paste the JPEG version from the website into a word document in landscale format. He then resized the picture until the scale was correct by trial and error. This gives you a full copy of the uppermost template, which could be used for the other side by simply turning it over.
I have the deflector in place but I am unsure which way the mounting plates on the end of the deflector go. Mine were originally set so that the deflector leant slighty towards the headrests when all the way up but swapping them so that the deflector has a slight backward lean loks a lot better imho. Does it make any difference?

Don't think it makes any different so long as it's firmly attached... mine always leaned slightly forward but each MG is unique! Why don't you show us some snaps... it's tradition to flaunt all new mods! :chewie:
Also if you're able to then you could attach a copy of the template to this thread so that anyone else who has the same issues as you will find the answer in this thread! Would be a great help if you did!

I'll get my friend to email me a copy and then post it here
Photos will be coming soon as well - as soon as I work out how to use my camera
I have only had the car a couple of weeks. So far I've just been getting it up to spec i.e.
Fitted Kenwood CD/radio (came from the wife's old car).
Fitted HRW switch and relay
Bought a hard top
Replaced broken cigar lighter
Replaced faulty window switch
Bought a tonneau cover last week
Bought 2 tonneau pegs yesterday - so that I can fit the cover - I did't realise they aren't all the same
Fitted the wind deflector -I didn't think of this as a 'mod' but, of course, you're right :woohoo:
Still have to sort out the following:
Lack of illumination of the clock and oil temp gauge.
Get the reverse lights to work.
Touch up the paintwork.
Repaint the filler cap surround.
Fit a low coolant alarm.
Give the whole car a bl**dy good clean inside and out)
Possibly fit a front splitter. I read the front can go 'light' at higher speeds although it felt alright when I was at 70 on the M1 on Friday afternoon.
I have NEVER had anything to do with any vehicle I have driven before so I am taking on each job as soon as I feel confident that I won't scr*w it up
So be prepared for lots more questions.
I thought it may be helpful if I eventually put a 'beginners' guide together so that anyone else starting from a zero knowledge base could avoid some of the pitfalls I manage to get myself into, such as the different tonneau covers and wind deflectors etc. Do you think that may be of use?

Great work, and good idea there, mate. A beginner's guide to...
Definitely go for a splitter, Imo.
The low coolant alarm is an engine lifesaver! I know...
By the way you don't need to asterisk potential problem words. Type what you want and the swear filter will sort it out for you!:yesnod:

Just for info - I tried the deflector both ways today and imho leaning towards the headrests works best.
