If it already exists - apologies, but how about a section where we can recommend places to stay, eat, visit etc for others planning or going on runs?

if you're stopping in Newcastle we'd recommend the travel lodge at the silver link, much nicer then the normal lodge and still handy for all things north east

Cumbria.
In Carlisle.
There are some good quality cheap restaurants.
Gianni's Pizzeria - Cecil Street, Carlisle. Very good Italian with good reasonably priced Italian wine. Our favourite eatery. http://www.qype.co.uk/place/337491-Giannis-Pizzeria-Carlisle
There's a new Thai restaurant(Ruen Thai) in Mary Street, Carlisle -Very reasonable prices. http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g190736-d1380739-Reviews-Ruen_Thai_Restaurant-Carlisle_Cumbria_England.html
Dempsey's restaurant and trendy bar - Warwick road, Carlisle. http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g190736-d752228-Reviews-Dempsey_s-Carlisle_Cumbria_England.html
Around Cumbria.
Fox and Pheasant Inn and B&B in Armathwaite, Cumbria- Very popular with the locals!
Shepherd's Inn, Melmerby, Cumbria. - Excellent food and beer. At the Cumbria end of the Alston Run.(A686)
Brackenrigg Inn - Ullswater- Great views, good view, good beer. http://www.brackenrigginn.co.uk/

Sounds like a good idea! I'll put it as a subsection inside the Events forum... we'll call it a "Local Area Guide".
If you can recommend places in a certain area then just post up the area name as the thread title and get posting! :woohoo:

Devon. Torquay.
Stayed at the "Belgrave" Premier Inn last week. Very good bar and restaurant on site, good parking, very good rooms. Smack bang on the beach. Good starting point for places such as Paignton, Brixham and Dartmouth. premierinn.com
