Tyre pressures?

What pressures do forum memebers run? When I collected my car I had read a few threads and based on that set them at 30 all round. The car handled well and rode "OK" (I knew about the TF ride going in). Then I found the handbook and changed to 26/36 F/R the car seems twitchier and the ride is a lot worse. 36 seems high without luggage, neither of us weighs more than we want to and the handbook says for sustained speeds upto 100 MPH, chance would be a fine thing here, and even on the German Autobahn these days. So it seems you could run less, any advice gratefully recieved

There's a lot of confusion about tyre pressures, because the TF and Trophy run different pressures to the F. Add in 15" and 16" wheels, different tyre sizes and chaos reigns.

Have a look at this thread about tyres, pressures and other settings. Tyres.

Having said all that I actually run our tyres a little over recommended. ie With 16" wheels on a Mk2 F, I run 26 front 30 rear. Through use, I have found that this suits our particular car perfectly.
A lot of people with TFs have found the rear 36psi setting to be too high, and have reduced it to 34psi.

ps. If you put what version of car you have in your details, so that it appears below your avatar(like mine), it will help people give you the relevant info.:yesnod:

I would suggest that you try altering the rears by 2psi and seeing how that is. If necessary try another 2psi.

Thanks a lot for quick and useful answers.
The handbook just gave the same pressures for all flavours of car, I didnt even know the Trophy was different, it must have different literatue Anyway for the record its a modest 1.6 TF and I did note that with all the kit you dont get, it actually has about 50Kg lower kerb weight, again an indication you can run the tyres a bit softer

On my F when I used 15's with Toyo T1R's 28lb all round. I now have 16's and on Toyo R1R's I run 28LB front 30 rear, theese are a softer tyre. I also use the same size tyre front and rear.
