Although I do have a spare key, I've been meaning to get a proper wobbly Mg blank key to get cut as another spare for ages.

Well I finally got one off ebay and took it into a little Timpsons shoe repair and keys cut counter within our local Morrisons. The guy said 'Well I can't give you a guarantee because it's your blank.

I said that's OK, and he went off and cut the key for me.

There you go, says he, and hands over my lovely new key.

How much do I owe you?

That's OK no charge, as it's your own blank.:OMG::faint:

Picks myself up off the floor! ...but you must want something for your time?:dunno:

No that's OK, it's fine!

I was flabbergasted, but thanked him effusively and wandered to the exit in a daze!

And the key works fine.

When I worked for the local VW/Audi main dealer I used to take a lot of blanks to the local cobblers, he would do them for free until I told him he ought to charge us as we would charge our customer.

Normally they were fine but sometimes one would have to file them slightly to make them work in the worn lock on the car or a buff on the wire wheel just to smooth the edges.
