I've got Falkens 205/40/17's all round on my TF and they seem good.CJJ;17338 wrote: I've got Falkens on the ST and they work well but not sure I'd use them on the TF. Who knows though, when my beoved Toyos are no longer available.

Posted 14 years 3 weeks ago #17374Why did you choose those tyre sizes?:dunno:Tigger;17373 wrote: I've got Falkens 205/40/17's all round on my TF and they seem good.

Oooh you've left yourself open for this...
cos 16's were too tight and 18's wouldn't hold the air.
Seriously, they were the size on the TF when we bought it, so we just followed suit when replacing them. I feel that the car handles great but to be fair I haven't driven one with a different set up. Only problem I've got is rubbing on the passenger front but that will be cured by altering the arch liner, when I can get round to it.

To maintain the same external diameter as 195/45R16 fronts and 215/40R16 rears you need 195/40R17 fronts and 215/35R17 rears.
With all the hassle of finding decent tyres I gave serious thought to changing to 17" wheels but the tyres are just as rare.

Pardon my ignorance - is it as simple then as changing to the 195's on the front with the 205/40's on the rear to avoid the fronts rubbing?

I see. I thought it was the profile that you were questioning.

I Know my F with 215/40/16 allround does tend to rub on full lock, but it's only the plastic arch liner.
It's a lot cheaper to remould the liner than buy two new tyres.

Absolutely agree, Auto Express have just done a test on winter tyres and they ran each tyre for 150 miles on normal road use, before testing, to remove all moulding spikes and mould release agents. 200 miles of "normal" driving will scrub them in.
