Not a great day for MGF yesterday...
Turns out the mo-fo who owned the car before rounded off the CVT Sump Plug, so we cant get it off without destroying it, and possibly the thread too...
So the Fluid i manically tried to source couldnt be used in the end anyway...
The Head Gasket appears to be leaking both coolant and oil, Russel changed this for me no more than 4 months ago, cant get hold of him for love nor money at the moment... im sure he will come back and sort it out, but its a total pain as i need the car everyday at the moment, and thought the head gasket saga was over for another 40,000 miles
To add to that the crank oil seal (cambelt side) seems to be leaking oil as well... I think this is a pig of a job to do by all accounts...
so it looks like i may even have to look at selling the ported and polished head with piper 633 cams, and emerald to fund the repairs on the rest of the car...
Any advise where i can get all this fixed for less than £300, in a time scale that roughly equates to yesterday? or should i keep trying Russell?
/not camping happy today

Posted 14 years 2 weeks ago #18400It's a bummer when someone screws the oil plugs up, will it not move if you grip it with mole grips or is it one of those 'inside star' types?

Not sure what the sump is like for CVT but couldn't you take off the sump and drill the plug then use a stud extractor on it? Have to be careful though as it's alloy I presume!

I'd pop it off - extract the plug and put it back on... and just get a new plug.
