Oookaaaay. Just phoned local independant LR place to see how much to programme a key fob.

I don't think they were happy with my reply.

£50, to programme a key fob? Maybe if they supplied the fob too, but to stick a diagnostic machine on the car, read whatever they read and do whatever they do to the fob.....£50.

I think I would rather take the risk of only having one fob.

Soooo. Anyone got any cheaper suggestions? Anyone got the equipment?

Technozen has the equipment to do it, he coded up a fob for me at the Goodwood meeting for nothing.
Unfortunately, he is based on the south coast.

Russell also has the gear.

theres a place in oldbury that does it for £20 and gives you the 4 or was it six digit code number aswell, i know i can get mine done fof a £10,and to be honest its best to get one done if you loose it your in deep brown water.yes i know its a bit far but it shows that if you shop around you can get it done cheaper.i dont blame you for not paying £50 some places they think hmmmm mg/ rover that they have a licence to charge what they like.

The TF will be getting an Emerald one day, but it is a bit overkill for the freelander.

Russell does it for £45 including a new fob (normally £40 each) but he is a bit far away!! anyone with the Rover T4 programme can do it, need to shop around. one of our club members was charged £180 to do the one one his ZS by a MG Rover dealership. Russell also gave me the FOUR digit EKA code which i had previously paid £15 for !!!! Hope this helps, Bryan
