Trophy style lamps

Trophy style lamps was created by dfv8

Hi all,

I've just sent my F reflectors to Dual Metallising for re-silvering and can't make up my mind whether to paint the remainder of the lamp surround's a-la Trophy style, or leave them silver as standard, (which I quite like). Could anybody post a pic of a Flame Red F, or a photoshopped one so that I can compare both?

Also, has anybody who's done the same noticed if the total light output is attenuated noticeably with the lamp surround being black?

In addition I might also fit the HID's I obtained from Dave at SWMGF.

Thanks,

Vic

I've got standards on one F and black trophy ones on the other

To be honest there isn't any real difference between them

Think I've got 4 old headlights in the shed that need the reflectors re-doing I was going to use one set to see what they look like colour coded to the body, but with it being red I thought it might come out sort of pink....lol :)

Does the surround have to be gloss?

Cos, if not, I was thinking of matt black to match my 'Lexus' rear lights

The Trophy ones are the same as your lexus ones by the sound of it, if your gonna spray them to make your own trophy style ones try using Satin Black rather than Matt

Most things on a car like wipers that look Matt are actually Satin

Painting the surround does not affect the light output.
I painted ours black and I think they look much better. The car is Black-ish, so they match.

There's no reason you couldn't paint them body coloured or any other colour to be honest.:yesnod:

Personally, I would be more bothered about the extra temperatures involved.

ps regarding the new regs for MOT. I've heard so many scare stories, if they were all true, I doubt any non-standard car would pass.
