New SORN legislation.
Has any of you F/TF owners seen this new legislation?
It is very applicable to us as we may lay our F/TF up over winter or while carrying out major work.
It seems that you are now not allowed to let your insurance lapse without SORNing it, even if it is still taxed and sitting on YOUR property.

Apparently it has been in a lot of the collectable car magazines lately.
To summarise, you can be 100% legal with your car taxed and it sitting on YOUR drive, but if you let your insurance lapse (maybe you are on holiday) you will come home to a fine.
The only way around it is to return your tax disc and SORN the vehicle.
This country is going mad.
This is penalising legit motorists to make it easier for the police to clamp down on people driving with no insurance.
Also, I may be being cynical, but they don't seem to have publicised this much, maybe waiting for the fines to roll in and make a bit of money?

Makes you wonder how long before we all have to fit trackers so they can charge us by mileage as well
an if they did I bet they would include miles on trailers or recovery
andddddddddd
get speeding fines from the tracker too

I'm just getting an error on that link, Clive.
According to this link insure OR sorn
You either need insurance or a valid sorn, not both. So they are enforcing SORN rather than anything else, in my humble..etc..

That's how i read it too, but i suspect there's more to it if the classics mags have got their knickers in a twist over it.
