Megs remote blip is a nightmare!

Megs blip stopped working so I changed the battery, managed to re-sync it and then all was fine. Then next morning it was a nightmare to get it to work (even with the 'under your chin trick' that normally works!). So I thought maybe duff battery so changed again - same thing next day...
It is really frustrating as it worked for ages previously after a battery change. Could I just be unlucky with several duff batteries in a row? I found a place in west london that will supply me a new fob and re-program my unlinked spare for £50, or re-program two unlinked (if i buy one off eBay) for £25, which I thought wasn't a bad deal.
I have batteries in the boot just in case it dies again now!

As you say either you have been unlucky with dodgy batteries, or the fob itself has an intermittant fault.
2 ebay fobs synched for £25 is not a bad deal!

I know of examples where some of the soldered joints in the fob have given up.:yesnod:

Wouldn't surprise me at all - The fob that's going is a 'B' which are notoriously unreliable - the old A's and the newer 17's are better.

My old fob gave up through bad battery contacts, re-soldering sorted it out.

Posted 13 years 9 months ago #21039In the end Russell did 2 fobs and the EKA code for me for MUCH less :woohoo:
I'm sure you know all this already but I thought I'd put the following here for the less experienced
If you don't have the EKA code get them to give you that as well because that may be your only option if the fob refuses to disarm the immobiliser. They can do that using the same equipment as the fob programming and it takes them literally 5 seconds, so don't let them rip you off on the charge.

Russell supplies and programmes the fobs for £45 each and will give you the EKA code too foc (i unknowingly paid £15 from the MG Codes company for mine) Try to use duracell batteries in the fob, the cheap ones are not worth the trouble.
