im looking at changing my steel under car coolant pipes for the stainless steel ones , i dont think mine will last more than 12 months. could anybody advise on what size jubile clips i need to secure the hoses to the pipes as i will change these aswell. just getting everything ready for the day. when theres a break in the weather.

From memory, I think the steel pipes are 40mm ish so a 50mm jubilee will probably do it.

Whoever you get the stainless steel pipe set from, will be able to supply the correct size of clips, either the spring loaded original type or stainless worm drive clips. It should be possible to re-use the originals. also consider replacing the rubber pipes at the same time as it seems sensible to do these while the cooling system is fully drained. Consider flushing out the system before removing the pipes and refilling with the later OAT antifreeze (pinky/orange one) and a new thermostat whilst you are about it.

The best price at the moment for S/S pipe set is Brown & Gammons £66.35 inc VAT plus carriage www.ukmgparts.com they also do an engine set in stainless too for £66.00

Hope this helps.

thanks bryan, i will give my rubber pipes a look over and change them if need be, i deff will change the steel cooling pipes to the thermo housing as these do rust and are overlooked buy most people.

Have a look here mate.

Clicky

Third pic up shows the stainless clips that I fitted. It shows 40 on the pic, so mine were 40mm.

any Premium Red OAT coolant will do

go to your local motor-factors they will know what it is

most of the time it needs mixing 50/50 with water, make sure you use de-ionized water to mix it with half and half :)

Teesside meet, open to all MG/Rs. 3rd Sunday of the month, ask for times and places!!!
