Also it does not regognise the key fob using the unlock the door and press 4 - 8 times the key fob. Please note that the dealers in Cyprus have nothing to do with the MG brand any more, they do not even carry spares.I was told that their is a method with turning the key in the lock to the left or the right. Please help.

:welcome2:

When you press the buttons on the fob, does the red light alter in any way?
If not you may need to put a new battery in the fob, and then try pressing unlock 4 or 5 times.

If you have the original security card that came with the car it will have the EKA code. This is what you can use by turning the key in the lock left and right.

Hi, to use the the 'turn on lock method' you need the EKA code which tells you how many to left and right to turn. Unfortunately there are only two ways of getting it -

1. From an MG dealer who still has access to that database holding the EKA codes

2. Hook up the car to the T-4 diagnostic system and read the EKA code

Sorry I don't have better news for you!

There is a firm called "Black Box Solutions" based in Cyprus who design and build diagnostic systems for MG/Rover cars.
If you can't find a local mechanic with the proper diagnostic equipment they may be able to help you out.

I went to a local Land Rover Club show and asked\t one of the vendor booths if they had a Rover T4 system. They said "No we use Rovacom" so I did a search and there it was! Their site can be difficult to navigate but if you can get to their how-to videos you will see just how cool their system is. If you just buy a license for a single car the price is quite reasonable. I plan on getting a system if I have any money left when I get my car tested and on the road.
Here is a review of their Faultmate system on a Landy. http://www.stockholmviews.com/p38/faultmate-review.html
Note, I don't have any interest in the company other than wanting their products!:woohoo:

Cheers,
Rich

Check if the red light is changing when you press the fob buttons. Try a new battery in the fob. Check that the battery holder in the fob is attached by its three points to the circuit board, if not they need re-soldered in.
