Other mornings it opens as quiet as a mouse.!!! Then having driven away sometimes it locks itself. Today it opened the passenger lock, but not the drivers door so I had to move to the drivers door and retry, it then opened. Has anybody got any ideas. The MGR garage want the car all day at I guess with a hefty bill to boot.
WELCOME TO THE T BAR :woohoo:
A new door lock is £165 plus fitting and takes about two hours. same problem with two forum members which was sorted cheaply. The first was done by Russell (MG ROVER SOLUTIONS) for £30 ~ he took the door card off and sprayed the lock with WD40 to disperse the water that had got in, making it unlock and lock again before the door could be opened. that was six months ago and its been fine since. The second one was exactly the same problem (water in the electrics) a good dose of WD40 solved the problem, the owner did the work himself.

Try the WD40 first to expel any dampness from the locking mechanism, check the connections, spray them with WD40 and if it still playing up i suspect its a faulty lock, get the MGR supplier to replace it.:S
