Induction Is In, Suspension Is Up!

I had hoped to do pads and rotors on the MGF this weekend but the parts didn't arrive on time.
Luckily I have a laundry list of other projects to keep me busy!
I started out by replacing the distributor cap and rotor, no problem there.
Then I tried to install my new Lumenition plug wires. They snapped onto the plugs OK but the cap
at the top of the plug tube stands about 8-10mm proud and doesn't seal. I tried using dielectric
grease at the plug end in the hope that they would go on deeper but no luck. Any suggestions anybody?
Following that minor setback I installed my new 52mm Throttle Body, again no problems thanks to online tutorials.
The best tip was to swap over the existing TPS. Worked great! While I was on a roll I decided to install the Viper Induction.
I was determined to outdo LAZ and get the old resonator box out in one piece, but it wasn't to be. I did manage to get the
box out fron the wheelwell more or less in one piece but is sure won't be usable for anything but recycling. It is bent,
beaten, drilled and cut! I also found one drawback to buying a Viper on E-Bay as the previous owner had cut the ducting by 5"
while attempting to install it. I sure could do with those 5 inches (As the Mother Superior said to the Vicar) I will have to order a new piece.:(
The last job of the day was a suspension pump-up. I used one of the grease-gun style pumps and things went like clockwork.
It is probably a bit high now but I'll see how it looks tomorrow.
Great Progress! Once the brakes are done (likely next weekend) the car will be ready for it's government inspection and will be on the road!:woohoo:

Cheers,
Rich
BTW: An added bonus...The E-bay seller who stiffed me on a pair of driving lights a couple of months ago e-mailed to say he is sending them out. I don't know it he was for real but it's a positive step.

Good work Rich.
As to the plug tubes, are you sure they're engaging the top of the plug completely?
Try an old plug in a tube and measure the height, compare it with a new plug.

The suspension will settle a bit after a run and a rest.

I like the look of that set Laz. The one that I got with my Viper has a nice heavy rubberized ducting. I don't think I would want anything lighter as it would be prone to wear from vibration as well as collapsing. The trumpet I got with my kit was a massive thing and I had to dorm (hammer) it into an oval shape to get it to fit behind the grille. The ones you show are smaller and look like they would fit without any problems.
As for the sound of the induction I haven't been able to drive the car since...A small matter of getting it
road licensed and insured.:(
I may take it out for a few hundred meter run today just to settle the suspension a bit.
It will be a lighter day today as I just have to refinish a damaged alloy, then it's off to a fundraising walk for Japan. I live in a fishing village with a long time Japanese population so it hit pretty close to home here. After all, they are just across the pond and it could have been us rather than them.

Cheers,
Rich

BTW: The plug boots are exactly the same length and dimension as the originals but it looks like the end of the lead is colser to the end. That may be the problem there but I have been unable to push the lead in farther. It's not a priority at the moment as I was just changing the leads as the old ones appear to be the originals.

The plug boots will move on the lead.:yesnod:
You may need to introduce a bit of lubrication between the boot and the lead.

Yeah, the Pipercross ram end is massive. As I had already bought the other pipe before I started fitting, as the original was split, I didn't need to try and fit the original ram end.

I got the plug leads sorted out today.
I clamped an old spark plug in the vise and forced
the lubricated boot down over it till it fit properly.
Now everything is back in place and buttoned up and
the car is running great!

I do have one question.....
Who decided to put the coil there?:  What a PITA!
