Coincidence or paranoia? was created by cjj

Yesterday I was searching for Halfords blue brake caliper paint to post a link for someone.

Today I open photobucket and the main advert that flashes up is for Halfords blue caliper paint.

I don't know about you, but I find that a little too intrusive.

Could be a really hi-tech search internet thingy that recognises what people are looking for then tailors the adverts to suit..??

Well I just checked my photobucket account, and the main advert is for a game called 'Molehill Empire' in Polish.

Wow, how spooky is that?

I think Halfords have some sort of high tech tracking cookies because after I did a post about their thermometers I went to Photobucket & their was an advert for Halfords Thermometers... very spooky!

I've had that happen on Facebook, Photobucket, and google. Do a weird search oen day, and adverts appear the enxt day for similar stuff. I guess we jsut have to get used to it, or clear your cookies if you are concerned.

FB also seems to pick words off your page. Once I was having a discussion about gravestones and sure enough undertakers and gravestone makers in the Uk appeared soon after as an advert!!!

Does that mean if I access my Photobucket account I'll get an advert pop up about 'Naughty cheerleaders wearing nothing but a welders mask'?

I have had this happen with another forum I check into now and again.

It's quite scarey these days what people know about you, just clear out your cookies now and again should help I would guess.

Anyone use Tesco online shopping? their Clubcard system seems to store absolutely everything you ever bought from their stores!!

Older but certainly not wiser!
