Busy times after blowing another engine

The monday before Pride of Longbridge I had a re-build, a chunk out of a piston and another head

On the way home from POL I blew it again, this time dropped a valve, the valve snapped shear across the stem then punched a hole right through to a water channel trashing the new head, the piston stayed in one bit but had a fracture across it and another with collet damage

anyway today was a busy, re-vamp an old head, valves swopped around to give me the best ones I had, new stem seals, took all the lifters apart an got them all working as they should, changed to my quietest VVC units .....put all back to together ready to be fitted

Stripped another block of pistons also ready to be fitted

Already did this ready for the rebuild too

Have to say it really felt like a good old british garden shed day.....but I'm knacked

Thats was part of the plan to add to the stuff I can polish an sell

But to be honest no one would pay the amount I would have to charge to make £3 an hour

the cam cover took way over 4 very long days in total doing it on an off

the intake took just a little less but not much

Both have problems, the cam cover because of the channels in it, which you can't polish properly

and the intake because its ruff cast which has to be flatted of on all the down pipes as well as channels

AND ITS TOTALLY KNACKERING

You're well named 'Rough Luck' mate. Any idea why the valve decided to split in two?

Incidentally, when I changed our plastic inlet to an alloy one, I fancied the nice shiny effect too, ...so I sprayed it with silver paint:rofl:

I like a bit of OCD.

Why not strip that nasty red paint off your car and polish back to metal too. ;)
