Hi all,
Can someone direct me to the correct Delay on module for use on a low level coolant alarm.I have already purchased a DRM1 module in error and tried all possible permutations.I have read a previous thread where someone had the same findings as myself and ended up using a Hella relay instead.
I would like to have the start up beep function.I am using the later expansion tank with base mounted switch to trigger the module.
Thanks for any input,
Regards Neil

Hi Neil, I remember your thread on this.
The problem is that the DRM1 module uses a connection to earth through the float switch. So needs the broken finger type float switch such as I used.
When the 'finger is straight' ie level OK - the contact is closed and the module sees an earth. When the level drops, the 'broken finger' cuts the contact to earth and the delay module operates.
Now because the OEM float switch operates in reverse to that ie no continuity if OK, and contact to earth if low level the DRM module operates the wrong way around. That is, it alarms until the level drops.
In theory, moving the float relay wire to T2 from T1, might sort it.
You may also have to move the alarm signal wire NC to NO.
Or have you already been down that route?

Thanks David,
I have tried all permutations, what you end up with is either the buzzer is on all the time and broken when switch triggered or buzzer activated as soon as switch triggered then deactivated after preset delay.Whether the module is faulty I do not know,I have spoken to the manufacturer who was most unhelpfull so was wondering which module others using the later tanks were using.

Well, apart from the guy using that Hella delay relay, I've no knowledge of anything else. :nonod: Sorry.
When I first fitted the DRM I had the same problems and didn't have much success swapping wires, either. I had to turn the float switch around in the end,

Thinking about this, and I reckon you could do this with the DRM unit. You would also need a standard 5 pin auto relay.
Like this
Connect the float switch wire from the DRM to the 30 pin and the 87a to earth. Connect pin 85 to an ignition live and pin 86 to the wire through the float switch to earth.
So you have a continuous earth on the signal wire, until the float drops and allows the 85/86 circuit to complete, which pulls the relay and breaks the signal earth. Thus starting the delay to alarm sequence.
But check this with someone who knows what he's talking about!

Thanks David,
Will draw the circuit out tonight when I have got more time.
