Just Had my Lovely black MGF recovered back home after a Very frightening jaunt down a country lane !!!
I took the MGF out for a spin as the sun was shining this morning and i dont need any other excuse lol
Driving along normally not "pushing on " or anything like that when on accelerating i felt the pedal go limp !! then the car just kept on accelerating when i took my foot off !!
Thinking it was a sticking pedal i tapped it with my foot and it seemed to cure it ,normal service resumed or so i thought ,
over the next couple of miles it happened a couple more times so I thought it was wise to head home and investigate the cause.
Turned the car round (raining by now !) and gently accelerated , then all hell let loose !!
Car shot off at full throttle wheels spinning and bouncing on the wet tarmac It was all i could do to hold it in a st line ,turned off the engine and coasted to a Holt ,glad to be in one piece and alive .
Have taken a quick look at the car and what appears to have happened is the engine mount has either broken or come loose allowing the engine to move in the bay and pulling the throttle cable tight ,also the cv joint has become disengaged which has resulted in a ride home on the recovery truck !
Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this or it was a fluke event .
cheers Dom

Well Dom, that does sound like a freak event, glad your ok.
When the throttle 'stuck' could you just not put your foot on the clutch or do have the steptronic version?
Take some photos and let us know exactly what the problem was and we can check our

Blimey! Glad you kept a cool head and came out ok.
Engine mount failure isn't an unknown occurence unfortunately Hope it's straightforward enough for you to get sorted.

As Dan, says engine mount failures have happened before.
Chris is just testing some uprated engine mounts as I type.
I had a wide open jammed throttle in a Range Rover. SCARY! Turned out to be a frayed throttle cable that jammed in its sheath.
