hi can anybody help, my mgf has started to hit a flat spot , it happens when im in traffic and stopped but as soon as i move off it hesitates so i have to increase the revs before it stalls. i have reset the throttle potentiometer to see if this helps, i have even changed back to the alloy 48mm throttle body, apart from this the car runs fine , i have changed the plugs rotar arm dissy cap and leads. the fuel filter was changed as well any advise please

My first port of call would be to check whatever I did just before it started happening.
It could be so many things, fuel or electrical probably.
Check the plugs even if they're new. I spent ages trying to find a flat spot and discounted the plugs because they were new. Finally changed the plugs back to the old ones= no flat spot!

Check your engine in the dark, you may see stray electrical sparking around the dizzy/leads.:shrug:

Also try cleaning the iac valve. And make sure your idle speed is set up correctly.

thanks dave have checked the plugs, i suspect it could be one of the leads, failing that will check the iac valve

all fixed it was the high tension lead to the coil pack that was kaputt, visualy checked it and it was cracked, this was the only lead i didnt change as it is a bugger to get to. :woohoo:
