Colour Coordination...

Colour Coordination... was created by Tsleight

General question for those with (or who have seen) Nightfire Red MGFs:

Mine currently has black seats with green piping. If I were to change the seats at some time in the future (finances permitting), what have others found as a good interior colour to match the Nightfire Red? I've seen Red leather seat covers advertised on Ebay which sound like they would brighten up the interior though I'm not sure if it being a different "red" would clash with the paint? I like the light colour leathers, but have heard that they can show marks easily (eg: blue off jeans...) so are a pain to keep looking good.

Any thoughts anyone?

Tim

I had thought of a red car before I settled on grey. I always think contrasting colours work well so had I gone with a red one I would have been looking at having a cream interior, but as you say, not dirt friendly. If you are thinking of red there is a lovely example of red and black here a couple of pics up from the swatches:

Definitely look good Rog! Would like to see what they look like in a Nightfire red bodyshell...

I don't think red upholstery would look too good in a Nightfire Red car. :nonod:
I know you say lighter shades but black leather with grey leather inserts would look good, IMO.
Incidentally I've seen both the mgfcentre sportster and standard seats in two tone leather and they are gorgeous but expensive.
A cheaper alternative would be to buy second hand. £200 ish should get you some decent leather seats and door cards.

The alcantara versions look good but wear quicker and look shabby after a while.

Thanks Dave.

Thats my thought too - I suspect red seats would clash. Your idea sounds promising, I just fancy brightening the interior a little, but without causing a cleaning nightmare! Following Rog's link there is a seat colour right near the bottom that matches your idea and I suspect they would look good.

Have you ever changed the seat covers? Just buying the new leather seems a viable option cost wise - aound £200-250 including door inserts and handbrake/gear level leathers. Not sure if anyone does 2-tone for a similar price though...

I like the idea of slate grey seats myself.
Or you could add lightness elsewhere by painting the console and vents silver and adding some chrome bits, possibly with light carpets (mats?) or even swapping out the dash and the entire console for a grey one but that would take some sourcing.

I think cream looks good with Nightfire, leather should not mark with dye from jeans, regular use of cleaner and conditioner will keep it in tip top condition :yesnod:

Just noticed this :

MGF MG TF - HALF LEATHER INTERIOR / SEATS / TRIM ETC
Completed

Amazing price for the interior even though it's only half leather! They may even have the dash etc too?
