Tyre choices
To be honest, although they have been a nightmare in the wet they haven't been too bad in the dry .... the fact that they are reaching slick stage might be helping on the dry front though
Narrowed it down to
Toyo TR1
Nexen 2000
Goodyear GSD2
Nexen appear to be cheapest with Goodyear the most expensive .... so Im swayed to the middle ground. All advice appreciated.
Thanks

I then changed to Kumho tyres. Some reviews here. Clickety click.. and I found them to be great performers with superb grip in all conditions.

Personally, I've found the Nexens to be excellent, as good grip wise as the Goodyears, but half the price! Longer lasting than the Toyos

These are the kind of words I like :woohoo:
I will now be mainly looking at Nexens

I went on blackcircle website and found a pair for the fronts @ £92 fitted, but no option for the rears?

In fact I have N3000 on the fronts and n6000 on the rears, with very good grip and handling.
I have run N3000 all around and N6000 all around with the same results.
Granted the N6000 tread isn't as 'sexy' as the 3000 and 6000.

The Goodyear GSD2s are very hard to get, as Goodyear have stopped production!! Toyo TR-1 are favoured by many MGF and TF owners as replacements. My local independant tyre fitter is charging £69 for fronts and £78 for rears fully fitted and balanced. I have only heard good reports about Toyos on the MGF, good handling and quieter ride, but they wont last as long as the Contenentals because they are a "softer" tyre. Keeping to the correct pressures is very important as is having the tracking done after fitting new tyres. That price for Nexen 2000's from black circles appears expensive and they dont list the 205/50 R 15 for the rears either ~ my local guy could not get them either. David has extensive experience of Nexens on his car, having covered high mileages and they are much cheaper in his part of the world. Shop around for prices.

Also went to my local tyre retailer this afternoon Bryan. He also couldn't get the 2000s for the rear and he wanted £124 for the front pair fitted compared to blackcircles £92 for the pair.
I then rang black circle to question the rears and he said no longer available but suggested Nexen CP641 for the rears.
Will shop around some more and look at the 3000/6000 option too.
