..how did you attach your manifold heatshield, as the OEM one has a bracket welded on it which this one doesn't

Is that OK? I presume the heatshield stops too much heat from manifold getting 'up' into the engine bay, to protect rubber coolant pipes etc.

You can buy exhaust wraps to do the same job. Not the bandage type, but a blanket type
that fastens around the pipes as a group.

Don't think it's that big a deal tbh. I really haven't checked the hoses since installing the manifold, but I think air flow would be increased a bit as well!

I'd still like to fit the heatshield. Anyone know if chemical metal would withstand the heat (i.e. glue a bracket on wiht it somewhere)

I doubt it, chemical metal is after all a polyester resin with an aluminium powder filler - try an experiment. glue two bits of metal together with it and heat with a blow torch, i reckon it will melt and come apart. can you not find someone locally with a welder and get them to tack one on or even bolt or pop rivet one on ? :omg:

I replaced my manifold with an MS one and my experience is you dont need the heat shield.

I never know anyone locally :(

I can appreciate there will be no obvious immediate effect, but the coolant hose next to the manifold is the one that tends to split resulting in a bang/plume of smoke and false HGF diagnosis (I've had this, as have many others). Its been mooted that this pipe perishes before others due to heat from manifold, so just a bit worried for the long term (I think some cars have a little heatshield here...my old car did, but this one doesnt, and some others have said they do and some don't)
