As long as we are on the subject....My 1996 MPi doesn't have power steering. Frankly I am doing just fine without it, but just for interest sake is it possible to retrofit EPAS to a non-EPAS car?

Cheers,
Rich

yes it is, can't find any how to's tho :( , you will need a TF rack....and obviously the EPAS ECU and loom.

See wiring. Should be possible, even me could imagine nicer works at an MGF.

A problem for you over there will be to source the parts from second hand in really good working order. Most of are quite sensitive and impossible to valuate just from seeing them i.e. on pictures.
A second car with working EPAS as clone would make it much easier. Also the harness in your very early MGF will include no support for the EPAS connections.

Why a TF rack?

I was going to ask the same question?? if some of the Fs were fitted with EPAS why does one need a TF rack to retro fit the power steering. :-?

I understand the TF racks have a quicker ratio and are supposed to improve the steering response.
After seeing that wiring diagram I am certain that a power steering conversion won't be coming to my car.
So here's another scenario...Is a TF rack compatible with an early F without EPAS? :) (New ones are a silly cheap price!)

You could certainly fit it. :yesnod: How tough it would be to park the car :omg: is another question.
