I have only weighed one wheel so far, well two, but both fronts.Because there is so much "stuff" in my MGB garage i can't get to either a steel spare or a 15" rear alloy wheel.
A 15" six spoke alloy wheel (1996 style) with a half worn 185/55 R15 Goodyear Eagle NCT3 tyre and no balance weights ~ ~ WEIGHS 15.35 Kg I also weighed the other front wheel, which has greater tyre wear and a load of balance weights this weighed 15.30 Kg.
I will post again when i have weighed the other wheels. i also have a set of six spoke wheels from a 2004 TF and will weigh these too for comparison. they are in the MGF garage :yesnod:

Yes, my MGB is in the middle of a double garage at my house and my MGF is in another garage six houses down the road. it is a much bigger garage 7.0 metres wide x 8.0 metres long brick built with a pitched tiled roof. two lifting beams, carpet on the floor, flourescent lighting, radio & television, oh Two air compressors, two grinders and a lathe (in bits). :woohoo: :woohoo:

Yeah, it looks like you need to add about 8-9 kilos for the weight of the tyre.

Thanks for this Bryan. It was quite an eye opener. I'd never considered it possible that the tyre bit of the wheel could weight so much. This is very useful info for when I pack the bonnet area with camping gear. Cheers.
