MGF Indicator fault

MGF Indicator fault was created by Tsleight

Wife came home in the MGF today and said the indicators were flashing both ways at the same time! When I went out to look, sure enough all 6 indicator lights come on whether I select left or right. So all bulbs are working because all six lights are working, and the flasher unit must be doing something as all lights flash as if the Hazards have been slected.

Any ideas please?!!!

Note: was a downpour last night and the car does sit on the driveway... Don't know if water could have ingressed somewhere?

I think the relay is before the stalk so this would indicate (ops, sorry, um no pun intended ;) ) a problem with the stalk.

My first action would be to rob a stalk from one of my other cars and try that, you only need to disconnect the plug from the back of the MGF stalk to do this.

The hand signals were to get the man with the red flag out of the way

in all honesty if you used hand signals these days no bugger would know what you were doing - well other than David and me

Around here only one hand signal is used and that one can lead to injury!

I did find when I had the console out that the signals don't work with the hazard switch disconnected.
FWIW.

Just nipped to shop, only short journey, and indicators worked fine except while turning into car park. Possible dodgy earth? :-?

If the problem happened while turning the steering wheel it sounds as if there may be a frayed wire/poor connection on the switch stalk. :yesnod:
